About the Film:
When Two Worlds Collide is the story of a man, of a people, and of the fate of the largest rainforest on Earth—the Amazon. This topical documentary follows the harrowing journey of a young Amazonian leader, Alberto Pizango, forced into exile for resisting the sale and commercial exploitation of indigenous lands. Falsely accused of insurrection and sedition by the Peruvian Government, he faces 20-years in prison. Despite a chorus of warnings from climatologists that we are approaching irreversible climate change, a new wave of commercial industrialization infiltrates deep into virgin Amazonian lands causing colossal deforestation. This film chronicles Pizango’s role in an apocalyptic battle of conflicting visions and political wills that will shape the future of the Amazon’s ecosystem and our world. Amazonians battle not only for the survival of ancient entitlements, but also for the welfare of us all.
