About the Film:
Traversing time and continents to explore genocide and the world’s response, the film interweaves the lives of four exceptional visionaries with the story of Raphael Lemkin, one of the twentieth century’s greatest humanitarians.
About the Filmmakers:
Born in Los Angeles, Edet Belzberg received a B.A. (1991) from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an M.A. (1997) from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. She has been a frequent lecturer at Columbia’s School of Journalism and has taught at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts (2001). In 2002 her directorial debut, Children Underground, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, and won a Special Jury Prize and Grand Jury Prize at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. In 2005, Belzberg was a recipient of a MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellowship. In 2008 her documentary film, The Recruiter was nominated for the Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize.
