Francisca Alegría (Director) is a screenwriter/director (MFA in Film). Her short films have premiered in festivals all over the world. And the Whole Sky Fit In the Dead Cow’s Eye won best short film at Sundance and the Miami Film Festival, and was screened at Telluride, Toronto, and other festivals.
Bruno Bettati (Producer) is a film producer and distributor. He helped to boost the internationalization of Chilean cinema as director of the Valdivia International Film Festival and as the executive director of CinemaChile. In 2001 he founded the production company Jirafa in the city of Valdivia, where he has produced and exported more than 15 feature films, all of them premiered at prominent film festivals worldwide such as Cannes or Sundance. Among his most relevant productions are the films Huacho (Cannes 2009), Il Futuro (Sundance 2013) and El Verano de los Peces Voladores (The Summer of the Flying Fish, Cannes 2013). He’s currently producing the film The Cow that Sang a Song About the Future and distributing Ra√∫l Ruiz’s latest film La Telenovela Errante (The Wandering Soap Opera), in Chile.
Matías de Bourguignon (Producer) joined Jirafa as an executive producer, overseeing the project Angela and Leo, by Marcela Said. He shares the role of executive producer (with Bruno Bettati) in The Play by Alejandro Fernandez, now in post-production, and in The Cow that Sang a Song About the Future. He is a film producer with a degree in Business and Economics from the Universidad Cat√≥lica de Chile. His first fiction short film, El Verano del Le√≥n Eléctrico by Diego Céspedes, won the first place prize in Cinèfondation at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
Vania Catani (Producer) began her career in the video art medium and has been ahead of Bananeira Filmes for 15 years. One of the most prestigious production companies in Brazil, it stands out for producing movies of great artistic quality, predominantly but not exclusively made by new directors, both male and female. It has produced 21 features and five short films. Connected to the international independent cinema market, she has attended screenings and festivals in Brazil and abroad and taken part in juries, project selection committees, as well as lab, workshop, and panel meetings in countries such as Italy, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Russia, among others. The company’s movies have been screened at over 371 festivals in approximately 40 countries and have been given more than 178 awards.
Tom Dercourt (Producer) is a film producer and actor. In 1996 founded Les Films à un dollar. He was joined in 2004 by Sophie Erbs, and the company became Cinéma Defacto in 2007. The track-record of both companies totals more than thirty-two feature films. Now focusing on co-producing internationally as main and lead producers but also as co-producers, they have acquired a sense of expertise on every aspect of the cinematographic work. From script development to financing ingeniery, shooting and film editing, and sales and festivals marketing. They both aim to serve a cinematographic vision with aesthetic sense and political commitment.
Katrin Pors (Producer) is a producer known for bridging Latin America with Northern Europe. She has more than 10 years of experience working as a producer, executive and co-producer on numerous projects with some of the most esteemed directors on the contemporary art house scene, like Amat Escalante, Annemarie Jacir, Joachim Trier and Ralitza Petrova. Her most recent work include the opening film of the 50th edition of Directors’ Fortnight: Birds of Passage by Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego, the Directors’ Fortnight co-production Petra by Jaime Rosales, the highly anticipated Venice Competition title Our Times by Carlos Reygadas.
